The ArctiCare® range offers comprehensive solutions for effective and healthy beauty care. Extracted from plants characteristic of the Arctic Region, ArctiCare® ingredients have captured the protective elements of the species to fight the cold, dry climate and excessive UV radiation in the extreme North. In Munich Aromtech published the results of several new efficacy studies made with the actives in the ArctiCare® range.
New clinical trial demonstrates anti-aging efficacy of SHAJIO sea buckthorn oils
SHAJIO Sea Buckthorn Oils (INCI: Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil), manufactured by CO2 extraction produced excellent skin anti-ageing effects in a new placebo-controlled clinical trial involving 30 healthy women. Improved hydration, overall elasticity and reduction in viscoelastic ratio was measured in cream vs. base cream. The results are in good correlation with a previous study where SHAJIO oils were taken orally in capsule form. The results are supportive of the use of SHAJIO products in topical and “Beauty from Within” or “Inside Out” cosmetic applications.
SHAJIFEN sea buckthorn phenols show strong antioxidative capacity
The antioxidative potential of SHAJIFEN (INCI: Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, Maltodextrin), a phenolic extract of sea buckthorn berry was evaluated by three independent in vitro test protocols. In a peroxyl radical scavenging capacity test (H-ORAC), SHAJIFEN was demonstrated to impart a significantly higher capacity than e.g. cranberry, blueberry, blackberry or gooseberry and showed almost 30 % of the capacity of pure resveratrol, a strong antioxidant. Quite strong antioxidant capacity was also obtained in two other tests, inhibition of lipid peroxidation and inhibition of LDL oxidation.
Antielastase activity demonstrated with SUN ESSENCE HG cloudberry extract
SUN ESSENCE HG Cloudberry Seed Extract (INCI: Butylene Glycol, Aqua, Rubus Chamaemorus Seed Extract) was shown to impart a strong inhibition of elastase activity with a clear dose response in an in vitro study. The elastase enzyme activity was measured at 1 % and 2 % active levels. The reduction in elastase activity was 11,4 % and 13,8 %, respectively, whereas the solvent vehicle did not have any effect. The results are supportive of the use of SUN ESSENCE HG as an anti-ageing active.
